Big Rain Alert for Telangana: Thunderstorms Daily This Week

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a seven-day weather outlook for Telangana, forecasting widespread rainfall and thunderstorm activity through the end of July.

According to the IMD bulletin released at 1 PM Thursday, most parts of Telangana are expected to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers during the forecast period. Specific districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and lightning over the next several days.

Forecast and Warnings by Day:

* Day 1 (July 24-25): Rain is expected across most districts. Heavy rain may occur at isolated locations in Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanmakonda. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds up to 40 kmph may affect all districts.

* Day 2 (July 25-26): Similar weather persists. Heavy showers are forecast in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, and 10 other districts. Storm activity remains widespread.

* Day 3 (July 26-27): Showers will reduce in coverage, affecting a few districts. Thunderstorms are likely in most areas.

* Day 4 (July 27-28): Isolated rain expected. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds may hit 20 districts including Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Jayashankar Bhupalapally.

* Day 5 (July 28-29): Similar isolated rainfall expected. Thunderstorm risk continues across 25 districts, including Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar, and Nagarkurnool.

* Day 6 & Day 7 (July 29-31): Rain and storm activity will persist in isolated areas, but no official warnings are in place.

Authorities advise residents to be alert for waterlogging, traffic delays, slippery roads, and temporary disruptions to power and public services. Municipal, traffic, and disaster response teams have been urged to coordinate precautionary measures and respond swiftly to local emergencies.
